Studio SH has started in 1996 as a personal project of David
Tabachnikov by the name "Second Horizon". Back then it was a project to develop
free software for Windows. "Second Horizon" has developed a number of projects,
most notably "Imager 3.0" image editing software, later followed by "Imager 3.5",
as well as a line of utilities for MP3 manipulation, "BomberEdit", "Disk
Collection" software for Windows and Linux.
Back at the day, over the time, after a while of changing
members, Second Horizon has grown and consisted of the developers Kevin Snaden,
Brandon Nason, and Marat Strelets, as well as Vitalik Polonetsky at the time of
"Imager 3.5", and Adam Berry as the web master. Also, a very important part of
the team was Ilya Fainberg, who provided help, support, Russian translations, and
late-night moral support to David Tabachnikov.
Later, Ilya Fainberg brought Vitaly Unic to Second Horizon,
who provides moral support to this day.
This team raced through development, working on various
projects together, up to 2001. Back then, Second Horizon also participated in
different side-projects, such as Ilya Fainberg's "CommandOS", and Vitaly
Polonetsky's "Font Viewer".
In 2001, most of the team disbanded. Ilya has moved to Russia, David went to Canada, and afterwards went to pursue
other projects and goals, and most of the team went on to work on different
other projects, but the dream and idea lived on in David's mind. Between
2001-2003, David has been busy mostly with free software work, and graphic
design, yet always signing the "Second Horizon" name on all the projects and
work, even if at the time, it was no longer a team. During 2003-2006, while
David was serving in the IDF, the name "Second Horizon" has been used by him to
identify his web freelance work.
Fast forward to March 2006. David decides to open a web
development, coding, and graphics studio. The studio's name? Studio Second
Horizon, of course. The name has been shortened, to make it seem more modern,
and thus "Studio SH" has been born.
Currently the team is not constant, and is very dynamic and
consists mostly of David Tabachnikov, William Northern, and Artyom Kytsiy, and
of course Ilya Fainberg's and Vitaly Unic's moral support. We hope to
stabilize, and make history again, like we did back in 1996.
